Eagan Woman Sentenced for Abusing Infant
| [November 2, 2010] Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that Laura Marie Wilkinson, age 32 of Eagan, was sentenced today by Judge David Knutson to 42 months in prison in connection with injuries an infant suffered while Wilkinson provided child care in the Eagan home of the victim’s family. The judge also ordered Wilkinson to pay restitution and a fine of $1,000. Last July, a Dakota County jury convicted Wilkinson of six counts of Malicious Punishment of a Child (causing Substantial Bodily Harm). The jury also found that aggravating factors existed to justify an upward departure from Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines. The sentence handed down today constituted such an upward departure. |
