Judge Issues Verdict in 2008 Fatal Car Crash that Killed Three
| [October 4, 2011] Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that Brittany Rose Mertz (formerly Krueger), age 22 of St. Paul, has been found guilty by Judge Jerome Abrams of one misdemeanor count of Careless Driving. Judge Abrams acquitted Ms. Mertz of three felony counts of Criminal Vehicular Homicide (Gross Negligence), one felony count of Criminal Vehicular Operation (Substantial Bodily Harm), a gross misdemeanor count of Criminal Vehicular Operation (Bodily Harm), and one misdemeanor count of Reckless Driving. This matter relates to an automobile crash resulting in the deaths of one adult and two children and injuries to two other children on April 17, 2008 on Highway 52 near 117th Street in Inver Grove Heights. |
