Parks V.I.P. (Volunteer In Parks) Program
Dakota County Parks offers a variety of opportunities for groups and individuals wishing to share their talents and time volunteering in their county park system. We rely on their energy and passion for the parks they love.
The V.I.P. Mission:
To build strong relationships with the citizens of Dakota County and surrounding communities to further the Parks’ mission while providing volunteers meaningful and educational opportunities.
If you enjoy working with people or have a passion for nature, Dakota County Parks is the place for you! Volunteer in a park that you frequently visit or choose one of the other beautiful County parks near you. Different term lengths are provided to best fit your availability:
- Short term (once or twice a year)
- Medium term (3-6 months)
- Long term (12 months or ongoing)
Short Term Opportunities:
- Special Event Volunteer: Help out with one or more of the special events Dakota County hosts each year. Events include: New Year’s Eve Party, Candlelight Ski, Trails By Candlelight, Earth Day and National Get Outdoors Day.
Medium Term Opportunities:
- Ski Trail Patrol: Join the fastest growing volunteer group, the Ski Patrol Team!
- Special Event Planning Committee: Help event planners organize our special events.
Long Term Opportunities:
- C.A.P.E.R.S (Canines And People Ensuring Running Space) Network: Join this team of Dog Park enthusiasts.
- Adopt-a-Park/Adopt-a-Trail: This opportunity is designed for groups and families.
Service Project Opportunities:
- Throughout the year, Dakota County Parks hosts several service project-related events including buckthorn pulls and trash clean-ups. Groups and individuals are encouraged to sign up for one of these annual opportunities and get your hands dirty!
Please note: Eagle Scout projects are not available at this time.
