Dental services offered through Public Health

Dakota County Public Health Department is partnering with Children’s Dental Services to provide dental care to children from low-income families. Children's Dental staff will provide dental care one day per month in county service centers in Apple Valley and West St. Paul

  • Appointments are required - call 612-746-1530.
Why is dental care so important for children and pregnant women?
  • Tooth decay is one of the most common childhood diseases.
  • One-half of all first graders have tooth decay, and many never receive treatment because often parents can’t afford it.
  • Tooth decay can cause pain and can also affect school performance and impact growth and development.
  • Good oral health is important not only to mothers but also to their unborn babies.
Services are available for children under 18 and pregnant women.  Services include:
  • dental exams
  • teeth cleaning
  • x-rays
  • sealants
  • restoration
  • fluoride treatment
Children’s Dental Services accepts all forms of medical assistance, and provides services on a sliding fee and free care scale to families that do not have insurance coverage.

Many Children’s Dental Services staff are multilingual and all are experienced in working with children. The non-profit organization offers dental services in many locations in the Twin Cities.
