Food Support

There are many programs to help residents with their food needs, such as:

  • Emergency Food Help
  • Expedited Food Support
  • Food Support (formerly called Food Stamps)
  • Minnesota Food Assistance
  • WIC (Women, Infants and Children)
  • Commodity Supplemental Food Program

The Food Support program issues electronic food support benefits that can be spent like cash in most food stores. The amount of food support you receive is dependent upon your income and household expenses. You may be able to get food support within 24 hours if you meet expedited criteria. More information about these programs is available from the Minnesota Department of Human Services.

Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a child under age 5, may qualify for WIC (Women, Infants, and Children Program). WIC is a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) program to help keep low-income women, infants, and children up to age 5 healthy.
