Hit a Homerun for Financial Literacy Month
An essay contest sponsored by Governor Mark Dayton, the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Department of Commerce. All students in grades 3-5 are invited to submit a 300-word essay in response to this question: What three steps can you take this month to make smart decisions with your money? Dollar Works 2 Training 
A workshop to acquaint trainers with Dollar Works 2 materials as well as increase personal knowledge and skills in teaching about connecting culture and money, assessing learner money skills, and evaluating Dollar Works 2 programs. The workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 3 at the University of Minnesota UROC, 2001 Plymouth Avenue North, Minneapolis. Pre-registration is required. The $50 registration fee includes lunch. A Dollar Works 2 curriculum will be available for review at the workshop with options for ordering. Contact Rosemary K. Rentwise Training
A training to acquaint educators with Rentwise, a tenant education program teaching participants how to be successful renters, will be held on Wednesday, May 23 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Dakota County Extension and Conservation Center, 4100 220th Street West, Farmington. Playing to Win 
A conference for urban youth ages 12-25 to learn about money management, entrepreneurship, economic development, college access and leadership skills. The event takes place on Wednesday. June 27 and also includes a college fair and Minnesota Lynx game. This conference is sponsored by Surviving the Game.  

Financial Literacy for College Success
Minnesota Council on Economic Education (MCEE) is developing Financial Literacy for College Success and wants to recruit secondary teachers (grades 7–12) who are interested in participating in a pilot program, which has the objective of helping to prepare low-income, underrepresented youth for higher education. Learning the Language of Money
Workshops will be held every Wednesday at CLUES, 797 East 7th Street, Saint Paul from 10:30 a.m.-noon. The drop-in workshops will cover setting financial goals, budgeting, understanding credit, banking, understanding taxes, benefits and insurance, and buying a car. Investing in Farm Families
An eight-lesson, online class that helps farm families plan for a financially stable future that meets long-term needs. Participants can work at their own pace. More information can be found on the extension website. The class is made available by the FINRA Foundation and the USDA Cooperative Extension System.
