Notary Commission Registration

To become a notary, please contact the Minnesota Secretary of State.

After receiving your Notary Commission, you must register your signature in your county of residence.   

Register your signature at any of three Dakota County locations:
  

Requirements:

In Person:

  • Notary Commission certificate
  • A $20.00 fee is required to record the signature.  This is payable to Dakota County (cash or check only)
  • A current driver’s license
  • Visit any of the three locations listed above  

  By Mail: 

  • Notary Commission certificate
  • A $20.00 fee is required to record the signature.  This is payable to Dakota County (cash or check only)
  • Your signature notarized by another notary on a blank sheet of white paper.  This must include 2 of your signatures: One exactly as name shows on commission card and one as you normally sign.
  • Mail certificate and fees to the Hastings location

After your commission is recorded, your Notary Commission certificate will be returned to you.
