Highway Permit Policy
Dakota County's policies require a permit for the following:

  • Participate in the "Adopt-A-Highway" program. (M.18)
  • For any work within the County right-of-way. (M.20)
  • Constructing an approach or access connection, such as a driveway, street, or field entrance, to the County highway system. (M.21)
  • Installation of any utilities within County road right-of-way. (M.22)
  • For special activities impacting County roadways. (M.23)
  • For all overweight and oversized loads moving over County highways. (M.25)
  • To allow low-maintenance landscape plantings on County Highway right-of-way. Permittees will be responsible for maintenance. (M.15)
  • Charge Fees where applicable, prior to issuing permits. (M.19)
