Interested landowners are required to complete a pre-application form (see attachments below) to be considered for inclusion in Dakota County Board-approved application rounds. Although applications are accepted year-round, annual application deadline dates are approved by the County Board. No deadline date had been approved yet for the 2013 application round but is anticipated in late summer 2012.
County staff determines initial eligibility of projects for the Farmland and Natural Areas Program. Staff will contact applicants once a determination is made. If a project is eligible, a meeting is scheduled to discuss the project, describe the prioritization criteria, and conduct a preliminary property assessment.
After all preliminary information is recorded, eligible project applicants meet with county staff to discuss the FNAP, and then are required to complete a more detailed final application form to be considered for recommendation to the County Board. See a step-by-step process of submitting an
application. The deadline to submit 2013 final applications has not been approved by the County Board.
