A dog’s point of view
Local author Stacey Waibel will talk about organ transplants and read from her latest book, Rudy’s Incredible Kidney Machine on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 10:30–11 a.m. at the Pleasant Hill Library.
The picture book is written through the voice of her toy poodle, Rudy. The event is free and everyone is welcome. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
Waibel, herself a transplant recipient, has written a series of children’s books featuring Rudy in an attempt to educate children about transplants and lessen their fears about friends who have had a transplant or about their own situations.
As a child, Waibel was diagnosed with diabetes and lost her sight during her first year of college. She visits libraries and schools to read from her books and answer questions children may have. Her previous titles include Rudy Gets a Transplant, Rudy’s Check Up and What’s On My Nose? In addition to writing children’s books, she is a motivational speaker.
