See the light
Bring your broken holiday lights to The Recycling Zone this holiday season. It's happened to everyone—you put the lights away one year, but next year they don't work and have been transformed into a tangled, wadded mess with missing and broken bulbs. But don’t toss your old holiday lights in the trash. Instead, Recycle Your Holidays at The Recycling Zone.

Residents are encouraged to bring broken or unwanted holiday lights and electrical cords—such as extension cords—to The Recycling Zone for free recycling through Jan. 15, 2011. Every part of the string or cord is recycled, even the little light bulbs. Cord adapters and battery packs are not accepted.

The Recycle Your Holidays is a seasonal program created by the Recycling Association of Minnesota. For a list of other drop-off locations, visit Recycling Association of Minnesota. Some participating retailers offer a discount on new energy-efficient LED holiday lights when you recycle your old ones.
