Plan A
Planning ahead for disaster can help protect residents, reduce property damage and save money—and the Dakota County All-Hazard Mitigation Plan does just that.
Dakota County and the cities within the County are working to update the 2006 All-Hazard Mitigation Plan. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) requires counties update their All-Hazard Mitigation Plan every five years to continue to qualify for FEMA funds when disaster strikes. Over the past decade, more than $400 million have been distributed by FEMA to Minnesota residents, businesses and local governments.
The updated plan describes the current natural and technological disasters that could affect our area and identifies actions that could lessen risk to life and property. Residents and businesses are invited to view and comment on the 2011 All-Hazard Mitigation Plan through Friday, July 22. The plan is available online and at your local library.
