Public Notice: Community Development Block Grant
Notice is hereby given of an opportunity for public comment on proposed substantial amendments to the Dakota County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program for Federal Fiscal Year 2006.
Proposed Substantial Amendment
The CDBG 2006 Action Plan shall be amended to:
- Revise the national objective for the activity to demolish properties in the Cedar Grove Redevelopment Area (located between Cedar Avenue, Silver Bell Rd, Hwy 13, and Cedar Grove Parkway) from Low Mod Housing to Slum Blight Area. The intended use of the vacant property was the construction of affordable rental townhomes for working families. The progress for redevelopment of the Cedar Grove Area has been significantly delayed by the economic downturn, with no construction done at this time. Therefore, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as asked that the national objective be revised for this activity to accurately reflect the intention of the funding, which was to remove blighted properties for future improvement to the area.

Public comments may be submitted orally or in writing to the CDA through Nov. 20, 2011. Approval of the amendment, subject to consideration of public comments, will be on the agenda of the Dakota County Board of Commissioners meeting to be held at the Dakota County Government Center, third floor, 1590 Highway 55, Hastings, MN 55033 on Nov. 29 at 9 a.m.
