Vermillion River CrossingThe Dakota County Community Development Agency is now accepting applications for a new independent living senior affordable rental housing community, Vermillion River Crossing, currently under construction in Farmington.

The building will open in summer 2012 and is located on Duschane Parkway south of County Road 50 and west of Denmark Avenue.

Vermillion River Crossing will have 66 apartment units including 32 one-bedrooms and 34 two-bedrooms. Sixty of the units will have fixed rents (currently $558 for a one-bedroom and $682 for a two-bedroom); six of the two-bedroom apartments will be market-rate ($895 per month). Three of the one-bedroom units are handicap accessible.

Heat, water, sewer and trash are included with rent. Resident’s are responsible for electricity.

Income limits for the fixed rent units are $45,100 for a one-person household and $51,550 for a two person household. There are no income limits for the market rate units.

Building features include: underground heated parking, community room with kitchen, fitness room, club room and screened porch. Individual units will feature: ceiling fans, microwaves, stove, refrigerator, air conditioning and emergency response systems. Additionally, Vermillion River Crossing will be entirely smoke-free meaning that smoking will not be permitted anywhere inside the building, including inside individual apartments or on the grounds outside of the building.

All applications received for Vermillion River Crossing by June 30, 2011 will be randomly drawn for placement on the building’s interested list. After that, applicants will be placed on the list at the time the application is received by the CDA. Verification of applicants will begin in fall 2011.
