Community Development Block Grant
Dakota County was allocated more than $460,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding from the Recovery Act. These funds are referred to as CDBG-R.

After an initial application for the proposed uses of the funds, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development submitted feedback. This resulted in changes in the application to comply with federal regulations. Distribution of funds was changed and an additional program was added.

CDBG-R funding will be used to substantially renovate the Community Action Council’s Robert Lewis House in Eagan ($206,000) and moderately renovate the Rosemount Family Resource Center ($75,000), Northfield Community Action Center’s food shelf ($10,000) and Neighbors, Inc. in South St. Paul ($50,000). It will also provide low-interest loans to income-eligible homeowners to rehabilitate their homes ($85,000).
